What's been keepin' me busy....

Well, the insanity continues. Here's what I've been doing .... a lot!

Quarter inch quilting. Some will ask "why?" I don't know. I saw a quilt that was quilted sort of like this and thought "hmmmm...I think I'll quilt lines 1/4 inch apart on this one. I was doing pretty good until I started to get so much bulk. I'm using my quarter inch foot and the little flange thing "rides" in the line of stitching. That only worked for so long, and now, I'm using a different foot that marks the 1/4 on both sides of the foot. It's a lot of stitching, but I keep thinking how cool it will look when it's finished and washed.
And then yesterday, Patti came over for the day. We sewed! ALL DAY LONG! It was fun. We're working on a quilt and you can find Judy's free pattern for it here Great pattern and a big "Thank YOU, Judy" for being so kind to share it with all of us...and for free! My friend and mentor, the Scraptastic Jen is working on one along with Patti and I. Jen is sooo not a scrappy quilter, but she's steppin' outside the box and doing one in yellows. It's going to be beautiful and I'm so proud of her for getting scrappy with us! So...here's how far I've gotten on mine....

And last but not least, I've been working on these blocks. I put together these blocks as a kit for the retreat I went to in April. They had just been sitting around screaming for me to put them together. The blocks are all made and now they are aging a bit before I put the blocks together into a top. Don't wanna rush that! So, I have been sewing. I have been quilting. But ... nothing that will be a "finish" any time soon, I suppose.

Ya'll have a wonderful day....Wednesday...hmmmm.....hump day? Yeppers....

Wow, that's a lot of work on the 1/4" quilting. Can't wait to hear how it turns out... and love love love the scrap quilt. I may have to do that one myself. Thanks

Love how your quilting is turning out. It looks really cool, but I don't think I would have been able to finish the whole quilt that way. You've got a lot of patience! Your peaches and cream quilt is turning out awesome! I gotta get busy on mine, but I got my first commission so I need to work on it too. I'll be busy this week.

I've been meaning to ask...the 1/4" quilting are you doing that in both directions?
The scrappy quilt looks reaflly cool but I gotta say...yours isn't that scrappy!! Dork! I should kick your butt!!

I always 'thought' you were crazy.... now I know! 1/4 inch!!!! Of course it's going to look beautiful when it's done!

What you're doing is beautiful but I must say I wouldn't have the patience to quilt that close together. Jen talked to me about the scrappy quilt but I don't think I have enough big scraps to do it. Keep up the great work and all of a sudden you'll have tons of finishes to show us.

Man, quarter inch quilting and not even on the frame...impressive. You should get like a whole quilt shop badge when that puppy is done! It looks fantastic, and I also really like the "scrappy" one, but I agree with Jen, yours looks quite coordinated to me :) I may have to try that with some batik leftovers....hmmmm.

I can just well imagine how long that quilting is going to take! But I agree with you 100%; I bet it is going to look incredible! One tip I just want to share (for what it's worth). A walking foot might ease the "bulkiness" that you are talking about; most walking foots (feet?) have 1/4" markings on them, too...

LOVELY, LOVLEY eye-candy you shared with all of us today. Sure, you may not be seeing any finishes any time soon, but imagine how many finishes you'll have once they all reach the "final stages." Bam, bam, bam!

Thanks for sharing the link to the scrappy pattern; as IF I need yet another temptation, though.

Finally, those "aging" blocks!!! What an amazing pattern. I adore the "irish-chain-like" pattern that emerges from the red diagonals!

Ooo----so glad I peeked in this AM. Now, I'm off, all inspired, to hit MY sewing room!

I love the green colored quilt--nice colors and oh what a project doing 1/4 inch sewing, but it looks nice. I may have to try that.

Are you sure you can't mock that scrappy quilt up in pink? It wouldn't take all that much time. P.S. The peach crayon does not come in the box of 24 - nice try though! - your cyber stalker - Jen V
